From our friends at SKCCH, the Seattle King County Coalition on Homelessness.
February 29 2012
Dear SKCCH Members and Friends:
Leaping Lizards! It has been an AMAZING leap-week!
Last Wednesday our Advocates in Olympia Day brought 100 passionate people together to deliver key housing and homelessness advocacy messages and hundreds of bright yellow postcards to the offices of every legislator in King, Pierce, Kitsap, and Thurston counties. Huge thanks go to our partners in this adventure: Catholic Community Services, FAITH, the Housing Alliance, and the wonderful folks who showed up and spoke up and made it happen. Our two youngest advocates, Denny and Nat, stole the show, as you can see!

Great news. Advocacy does pay off. The TBA Tikkun Olam Committee is sponsoring a March 18 Teach-In with opportunity to learn, be inspired and pick up tools and tips for continuing to advocate-to speak truth to power. The accomplishments of the past week are great. Yet, this is the tip of the iceberg. We still need to increase revenues so that we can do right by all of our state’s residents. I’d say the sound of the shofar is loud and clear-when we speak truth to power we can succeed and this is just the beginning. Sign up for the advocacy training on March 18 and connect with others who may or may not already be at the frontlines of advocacy on the variety of isses that matter most to members at Beth Am. if not now, when?
